If you drive far enough south of Austin (30 minutes) you'll start seeing cows, goats, miniature horses, deer, oryx, and maybe even a snake eating a frog(I saw this recently and it's just as terrifying as it sounds). You'll also find fields of cedar, live oaks, and tiny churches that have been around for over 100 years, like the one where Torri and Chris were married.
Getting married at your grandmother's 100 year old church is probably the sweetest thing you could do.
Wedding tip: If you're getting married, find the most awesome tree nearby and take photos with that tree! Weddings portraits and trees just work - see photos below. Keep in mind that I definitely choose my current home largely based on the high quality foliage nearby. :)

They are so funny and insightful, and their interview with Donna Edwards is incredible. I just started listening to all these old episodes with Tavi Gevinson and Stephanie Beatriz and they are all amazing!
Austin Learnshop: Shoutout to Bossbabes ATX for introducing me to so many great women. One of them being artists Heidi Lowell. I went to her workshop with Austin Learnshop this past weekend and learned so much about watercolors, including that the the $5 set at Michael's kit is totally worth buying.
Travel: I'll be in Atlanta starting May 6th for a few days, NYC at the end of July for a week or two, and LA/Palm Springs/Joshua Tree for a feminist photo retreat with some amazing lady photographers from all over the U.S. in August. If you are around, give me a shout. I'll have my camera on me ready for all the photo adventures.
Lady ATX Magazine: Austin writers, illustrators, and photographers looking for an opportunity to share their work should connect with Lady ATX Mag. I've took photos for a recent article about Katie Kime for Austin Fashion Week and just took a few more for another just recently published about 48 hours in Austin.
Path to citizenship and fair pay for domestic workers: I recently learned about the National Domestic Workers Alliance. NDWA helps give domestic workers a voice and helps fight for their rights and negotiate fair pay. I know that my mom could have used an organization like this when I was a kid. I definitely remember her talking to me about her struggle to negotiate higher pay. They also have a new website for immigrant women who want more information on the path to citizenship that is available in English and more importantly in Spanish. If you know someone who could use this information please pass it on. It's likely that at the very least you know someone who knows someone who could use this information.
Cine Las Americas: "Cine Las Americas is a multi-cultural, 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Austin Texas, offering theatrical screenings of films made by and/or about Latinos or Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Films from Spain and Portugal are also included, enhancing a truly Pan-American cinematic experience." Just found out, I'll be there opening night taking photos.
