Jenna + Kurt // November Austin Engagement Session

Jenna and Kurt are probably the cutest, sweetest couple ever. She’s a kindergarten teacher and Kurt works in construction, and they live in Buda, a little town just south of Austin.

She and Kurt are getting married at Vista West Ranch, but there was a location she had originally thought about for her wedding where she wanted to take the engagement photos at. It’s kind of remote and a little rugged, so it wouldn’t have worked for grandparents or others who might require easier access. But it was perfect for the engagement photos!

When she first told me about it, I was so excited because she told me it was a plateau with amazing views and it was.

I was talking to Mark, telling him where we were going, and he was like, “I think I know where that is.”

He had apparently gone there with a friend who had been getting his piano repaired. The plateau is on the property of a piano repairman where he’s created trails in addition to the shop, his home, and a little water house that looks straight out of Lord of the Rings.

It was incredibly beautiful and remote. We were only able to shoot there because Jenna knew the owner through a family friend. Even the smaller cities adjacent to Austin are going through a growth spurt and starting to feel way less small than they did before, but this property is still just on the other side of that and still feels rural. The plateau was gorgeous, the views were beautiful, there were cedars everywhere, the piano shop was incredible, and the owner was awesome.

Jenna and Kurt came in Kurt’s jeep, which was his father’s and then his brother’s. He repaired it and it looks like a jeep you might take out west or something (so obviously we got some photos with it).

They were super fun and awesome. I asked them to two-step and they knew exactly what to do, which was just incredible.
