Laura + Perry // Coney Island Engagement Session
Sometimes, I meet the couples who hire me via the internet. We FaceTime and maybe even have a phone call to make sure itβs a good fit. Every time someone hires me from another state and places their trust in me, Iβm grateful.
I went to New York specifically to photograph Laura and Perryβs engagement. For engagement sessions in Austin, I typically send people a list of potential locations and ask for their suggestions as well to get a feel of what direction they want to go in. For this one, I relied on Laura and Perryβs expert eye for location suggestions.
Laura is a food photographer and Perry does special effects work, so they had great ideas and style. Getting hired by other photographers or creatives is the highest compliment you can receive as a wedding photographer.
We spent a whole morning and late afternoon together, making it probably the longest engagement session Iβve ever done. Itβs also possibly the coolest.
Their engagement session was Wes Anderson inspired. All in all, they looked super chic and turned heads everywhere we went! First, we went to Coney Island and had a hot dog of course. Later in the day, we decided to head to Union Hall and the East Village for ice cream. Laura and Perry are really into food (they are my new favorite food friends) and specifically into ice cream.
But most importantly, they had a coin made for their save the date. A COIN. Itβs awesome and theyβre awesome.
On my list of NYC things to do were: Eat pie at Four & Twenty Blackbirds again, go to Bolivian Llama Party, eat ramen, and see my NY friends. Check out my travel stories on Instagram to see what put me in a food coma! And remember, if youβre in New York and you want a ramen partner/engagement photographer, Iβm here for you.
