Palm Springs Feminist Photo Vaycay 2019
Feminist Photo Vaycay is always great, and this yearβs vaycay in Palm Springs was of course no exception. Itβs always super chillβ there are a couple of photo shoots, but theyβre not required. You can really choose your own adventure rather than feel obligated to do everything everyone else is doing, which I love.
My friend Carly organizes it, and this year there were more people than sheβs ever had before. I look forward to it every year and I know next yearβs will be awesome too. Itβs the rare occasion where someone puts together a workshop where the goal is just to hang out, relax, and connect so itβs really special.
I did the two photoshoots, and they were so much fun. The first shoot was with Sasja and Mia, a couple who own a fitness studio. Theyβre friends of some of the models from our first vaycay shoot who got recommended to us, and they were nice enough to come out to Palm Springs for the day and model for us! We went to a crazy beautiful place called the Tumbleweed Sanctuary and those folks were nice enough to let us use their space (which is also a wedding venue). Here are the details for this shoot:
Venue: @tumbleweedsanctuary
Wardrobe: @floravere
Florals: @studiokatefloral
Planner/Design: @DawnMauberret
Jewelry: @giacomellijewelry
Hair and makeup: @cristinaglams_brides
Stationery: @ephemora.co
Models: @justmia23 and @iamsasjafierce
The second shoot we did was a more casual one with another real-life couple, Gabe and Janet. It was almost like an elopement. We shot it at our Airbnb, which was a gorgeous, giant house called the Coachella Estate. It was huge, with a beautiful yard and pool and pond, and somehow it fit all 25 of us. A few of us went out to the Ace Hotel with them right before sunset, which was my favorite part. Here are the details for this shoot:
Planner/Design: @DawnMauberret
Wardrobe: @lustrewear // @californialustre
Hair and makeup: @katelynalfordmakeupartistry
Models: @thiink_tiink and @gabbgabbs
Our amazing stylist, Dawn, put together both of these shoots and got all these different vendors together to contribute. It was awesome!
