Wedding reception photos weren't something I thought people really wanted to see on my site, but after talking to some couples and other photographers I realized it's actually something that a lot of people want!

I like reception photos, I like taking them, I have opinions about how they should be lit, and I like the photos I take so I thought, why don't I just post these?!

Most reception photos are at night and indoors, but there are some with daylight. I think looking through these photos gives people a better understanding of what to expect when they get their photos back. Most photographers don't post them, so you might not really know what they'll look like until you get your photos back (unless you ask to see a full gallery).

I love reception photos because some of the best moments and most genuine expressions happen during the reception. The ceremony is done, the family formals are done, and everyone is full of food and margaritas and ready to party.

The only other thing I'll say about reception photos is: if you care about dancing and making sure it's a fun party, invest in a good DJ! You'll get much better photos if you do. Make sure they know what they're doing and they're on the same page with you as far as music taste, and you'll be good to go.
